Unlike the '65/'66 assembly, the '67/'68 housing has to be completely removed to install the LED unit. Start by removing the six nuts that hold outer trim rings in place (two per ring.) Remove the three trim rings. The three trim rings hold the housing in place and once they are removed the housing is free. It will probably take a little coaxing after many years on the car.\nOPTIONAL - For ease of installation the tail light socket in this example was cut from the harness and fitted with blade type connectors. Most wiring harnesses are in pretty bad shape and it might be a good idea to replace the complete socket assembly. Carefully remove the rubber gasket and the six screws that hold the bezel in place. This is probably a great time to replace the gaskets. Remove the bulb and carefully replace with the LED unit. OPTIONAL! Because the '67/'68 socket is removable it is possible that it can get twisted (causing the LED unit to not line up) or pop out of place (damage the LED unit.) To avoid damage to the unit a small screw can be inserted as shown to hold the socket in place.\nThe assembly can now be installed back into the car.
